Double Matting Technique

It s an easy affordable and a more unique way to add a little something extra to the finished product.

Double matting technique.

This technique is ideal when you want to call out a color featured prominently in the art but don t want a full color border. Just take two mats of the same overall size. Thicker 4 ply mat board with 1 6 or 0 0625 thickness each. Rather a double mat is just two single mats stacked together two single mats with two different size windows stacked together so the window of the under mat appears as a band of color around the inside of the window of the over mat.
