Dripping Sound Under Floor

I just moved into a 4 yr old house.

The conclusion is assumed to be a leak under the floor. Even worse the plywood subfloor delaminates and rots requiring a huge expensive tearout and replacement project. First check your basement or crawl space below the spot where you hear the water sound. Although it may sound minor this leak causes major damage when water seeps into the subfloor where flooring meets the tub or shower.

The drip drip drip goes on for maybe an hour. Listen carefully for this noise because if you detect it it can lead you right to the source of the leak. Before long the vinyl flooring or tiles begin to loosen.
